The mansion was built in the 1890s by the family for their daughter's wedding, in accordance with the customs and traditions of the time. In those years, it was a significant part of the social and cultural life for a family to build a mansion for their daughter before her marriage, symbolizing the future of their family. The Golden Fountain Mansion reflects this tradition, built with the hopes and dreams of a family for the future.
Years later, the story of the mansion took on a completely different meaning.
The young groom lost his life for his country in the Battle of Gallipoli in 1915, leaving behind a great sorrow and memory. Following this tragic event, the mansion was sold.
However, the fountain located in the mansion's garden has survived as the most meaningful reminder of this story.
Today, the fountain located in the garden of the Golden Fountain Mansion carries the memory of a love story from the past, a family, and a young groom who was martyred in Çanakkale.
It has been brought back to life while preserving its original texture.
Having deteriorated over the years due to the effects of nature and time, the mansion has regained its original character after an extensive restoration process.
The primary goal in the restoration of the Golden Fountain Mansion was to revive it by preserving its historical identity and original architectural character. During the restoration, care was taken to reuse the original building materials that remained intact as much as possible; the stone walls, wooden structural elements, and traditional architectural details of the mansion were preserved, keeping alive the spirit that the building has carried from the past to the present.
All the window frames and doors of the mansion were custom-made in the Istanbul workshop of the late architect Ernur Kalender.Thus, the building's traditional architectural language has been preserved, while its historical atmosphere has been combined with modern comfort.
A Trace of the Past in Every Room
One of the most important elements that completes the spirit of Altın Çeşmeli Konak is its interior decoration.
The furniture and accessories used in the interior of the mansion were carefully sourced from antique dealers in and around Çukurcuma after a long research and selection process.
Each of these special pieces, bearing traces of the past, has been selected to suit the architectural character of the mansion and the unique atmosphere of each room.
Because At Altın Çeşmeli Konak, no detail is accidental.Antique furniture, unique accessories, wooden details, and stone walls come together to bring the elegance of the past to the present.
Each room holds a different story, each corner a different memory.
Golden Fountain Mansion Today
Today, Altın Çeşmeli Konak offers a unique accommodation experience that blends the past and present within the historical fabric of Altınoluk.
Built in the 1890s to serve as a family home, this mansion, which commemorates a young groom who was martyred in Çanakkale in 1915 through its fountain, and which was meticulously restored and brought back to life years later, continues to preserve the traces of the past today.
